Mario J. Brown Gives Milwaukee’s Make-A-Wish® "The Gift" for the Holidays

MILWAUKEE - Dec. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Milwaukee’s own national recording artist Mario J. Brown will be celebrating the release of his latest holiday album The Gift, by hosting a release concert. The event called The Mario Brown Christmas Celebration is in support of the Wisconsin Chapter of Make-A-Wish®. The concert will take place on Sunday December 22, 2013 and a portion of the proceeds from the concert ticket sales will be donated to a Make-A-Wish family. The celebration starts at 7:00pm with doors opening at 6:30pm and will be held at The Hamilton Place located at 823 E Hamilton Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202. “I have a passion for Make-A-Wish® because two of my brothers have benefited from the wishes granted by the organization, and are survivors of lupus and brain cancer. This is my opportunity to express my gratitude for what they did for my brothers”, said Brown when asked why he was putting on the event. Brown went on to say that he felt that the efforts of Make-A-Wish® clearly reflected his passion for helping children with life threatening medical conditions.

As a result, Brown will be helping 7-year-old wish kid A’kela Aldridge who was diagnosed with pulmonary Artesia with intact ventricular septum from birth. A’kela was born with an under developed heart and at three weeks old, she had a heart transplant. She then spent the first year of her life she in the hospital because of her condition. Today A’kela is doing better but still has to go to the doctor weekly and takes medication daily to prevent heart rejection.

A’kela’s family will be treated to a holiday celebration, which will feature Brown performing selected songs from the new album. Attendees will also be invited to participate by bringing toys for A’kela and her ten brothers and sisters. “We are excited to have Mario offer his influence in support of A’kela and her family. This event is certainly a reflection of Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin’s mission to enrich the human experience for every child that is suffering with a life threatening medical condition”, said Forrest Doolen, Public Relations Manager of Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.

Brown also has a special musical treat for his supporters. He is offering the album as a free download -- a thank you to the community that he still calls home. “My supporters have given me so much over the years that I felt it was time to give back ”, said Brown. 1000 free downloads of the album will be made available to all who would like to enjoy his work.

As an added incentive, Brown today launched a contest called The Mario J. Brown Experience. The person that brings the most people to the event could have the chance to be Mario’s personal assistant for a day on the road. There will be other giveaways and holiday treats for all to enjoy at the event.
