Dec. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- The magic of Christmas came alive as the Crieff Hydro hotel Perthshire welcomed families and carers from Rachel House children’s hospice in Kinross, run by Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS), for its annual ‘Cheers for CHAS’ event.

A special day full of Christmas surprises awaited the sixty guests at the Crieff Hydro hotel Perthshire, as they arrived to the sounds of Santa’s cheery saxophone and a team of dancing elves.

A special Italian themed Christmas lunch, the sound of party poppers, party horns and lots and lots of laughter kicked off the day’s events followed by a trip to the resort’s cinema for popcorn, candy canes and lots more Disney fuelled cheer.

The families were then welcomed to Crieff Hydro's very special Grotto where parents relaxed with a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie while the children enjoyed Christmas crafts and songs before Santa’s grand entrance.

A gift for every child and some special time with Santa, captured in a photograph and a memory was the highlight for many followed by a little quiet time before the last event of the day, Christmas Carols in the Drawing Room with special Christmas sweet treats designed by our Executive Chef, games and crafts for the children and some festive music provided by our organist and violinist.

Before the day drew to a close, the doors burst open and a 20-man conga line of Disney characters snaked their way around the room, mingling with the children and stopping for photos. Certainly one of the finest family holidays in Scotland, Crieff Hydro’s intimate and inviting setting facilitated in providing a truly unforgettable event.

Commenting on the special day, CHAS Activities Co-Ordinator, Alison Blair said; “Our families have had an amazing experience today and I can’t thank Crieff Hydro enough for organising this event for us.  Eating out together as a family at the same time, enjoying a cinema trip, meeting Santa; these are all things that families who visit Rachel House will struggle to do for so many reasons and this event created a safe, warm, friendly and personal experience which I know has made a huge difference to all the families who came today.  It gave them the chance to do the things that so many of us might take for granted and I know that special memories were made throughout the day for mums, dads, grannies, grandpas, aunties, brothers, sisters and of course the children who we support at Rachel House.”

She added; “What made this event so special was that we could tell that every person who looked after us today really cared. It wasn’t just an ordinary event.  There was something really special here today and there was so much joy.  The magic of Christmas really did come alive today.”
