The Pulse now joined by Kerry Grens of The Scientist

PHILADELPHIA - Dec. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Kerry Grens, associate editor at The Scientist, joins the weekly public radio program The Pulse as an expert contributor. Dedicated to covering the latest in health, science, innovation, and the environment, The Pulse is an hour-long show produced by WHYY, the public radio station in Philadelphia. Grens will be a frequent on-air guest, providing updates and insight on the latest in science news. The Pulse also includes in-depth reports from WHYY's staff, first-person accounts from patients reporting back from the front lines in medicine, interviews with leaders in health care and science, and tales of citizen science.

In addition to the live program on 91.5 FM in the Philadelphia region, audio of the show and additional online content—including videos, photos, and more—are available at www.newsworks.org. In partnership with The Pulse, The Scientist will host the portion of the program airing Grens's contributions on its website, www.the-scientist.com, and a link to the full show. The first episode of The Pulse airs 9 AM EST on December 6, 2013. Grens will make her debut on December 13.

Grens was the senior health and science reporter for WHYY-FM and WHYY-TV from 2008 to 2011. Prior to her tenure at WHYY, she was a staff writer at The Scientist. Grens returned to TS as an associate editor in August, 2013. She has also worked for Reuters Health and New Hampshire Public Radio, and her reporting has appeared in Nature, Modern Healthcare, NPR, Marketplace, and Weekend America.
