LEXINGTON, Ky. - Dec. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- To help spread the holiday cheer to Lexington children this holiday season, PODS® Lexington, a moving and storage company, teamed up with Fayette County Firefighters Toys Program to collect bikes for their Bikes for the Bluegrass drive. A PODS® container was donated and placed at Courtesy Acura in Lexington where residents were able to make their contributions.

YOUR 106.3’s John Cruz and the Lexington Fire Department braved the elements for three days with a Live DJ broadcast encouraging residents to come out and help change the lives of children this Christmas by contributing bikes and trikes of all sizes, for all ages to Bikes for the Bluegrass and the Firefighter Toy Program.

Over 200 bikes were collected for less fortunate children in Fayette County. “We’re so thrilled with the results of the bike drive. We’re proud to be able to provide less fortunate children with a smile on their faces by giving them a bike this holiday season,” said David and Ken Kocon, brothers and co-owners of PODS® Lexington. “This is a great way for us and the community to step up and help support this great cause.”

Each year, the Lexington Fraternal Order of Firefighter’s, Firefighter Toy Program, helps provide gift donations for children throughout the community. “The Firefighter Toy Program is in its 82nd year and provides toys for about 3,000 children of those in the community who are experiencing difficult times --- whether from a layoff, a health issue, physical challenges or unexpected expenses,” said John Durr, a Lexington firefighter and FOF president. “Year after year we witness the generosity of spirit of the Lexington community.  We expect no less this year as we work to meet the needs of those in need through providing holiday cheer for the children, and hope and encouragement for their parents."
