Celebrating Dylan Thomas with 'A Child's Christmas in Wales'

SWANSEA, Wales - Dec. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- ONE of Dylan Thomas’ most popular works will be brought to life in a special festive performance later this month.

An adaption of ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’, first recorded by the world-famous poet in 1952, will make up the second half of a Fluellen Theatre Company yuletide celebration at Swansea’s Dylan Thomas Centre on Thursday December 12.

A performance of the piece takes place at 7pm, which is supplemented by readings from other favourite Christmas texts and carols. Both events feature Delyth Jenkins on harp.

The story of ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’ is an anecdotal re-telling of Christmas from the view of young child. It’s seen by many as a romanticised version of Christmases past, depicting a nostalgic and simpler time.

Jo Furber, Swansea Council’s Literature Officer, said: “Our strong relationship with Fluellen has meant that we’ve developed the performance to be engaging, enjoyable and educational. Time after time I’m impressed by the top quality of performance that Fluellen has put on for us at the Dylan Thomas Centre, and their festive special will prove no different.

Fluellen has devised many original presentations on the life and works of Dylan Thomas. They’ve regularly interpreted works like ‘Under Milk Wood’ and ‘The Doctor and The Devils’ in venues across Swansea and the rest of south west Wales.
