By: queue G&P Trucking is working with Wreaths Across America™, a national project of the Worchester Wreath Company in Harrington, Maine, to place wreaths on the graves of military veterans in South Carolina. For several years, the company has volunteered to send a driver and a company truck to Maine to pick up the wreaths and deliver them to veterans’ cemeteries in South Carolina. As in 2012, G&P’s truck will be escorted by motorcyclists from the American Legion Riders Post 193 from Chapin with assistance from the Patriot Guard Riders, two national organizations who also volunteer their services. “We are pleased to be able to deliver wreaths to cemeteries across the state as a small token of our appreciation to our war veterans,” says Parker. “It’ A Vietnam veteran who works at G&P is now in his fourth year of volunteering to drive the truck. Danny Burgess says he is proud to be part of such a wonderful tribute to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. “Driving the truck to deliver these wreaths across our state is both an honor and a privilege for me.” G&P’s participation in Wreaths Across America was spearheaded by G&P’s Senior Vice President Richard Strobel, also a Vietnam War veteranwho serves as the 1st Vice Commander of Post 193. “I’m proud to work for a company that supports such a wonderful cause,” said Strobel. Deliveries have already begun in Florence and other locations across the state. Columbia Delivery Information The G&P truck carrying the wreaths, along with motorcyclists from the two organizations and a police escort, will meet the Lowes’ Home Improvement parking lot on Highway 1 in West Columbia at 8:15 am on Friday, December 13. The truck and escorts will then proceed to G&P’s main office at 126 Access Road in Gaston. At approximately 9:30am, the truck will leave for Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia before heading to National Cemetery in Beaufort. At Fort Jackson, the wreaths will be off-loaded into smaller vehicles for delivery to the individual gravesites. G&P Trucking Company is a national freight carrier headquartered in Gaston, SC. This is the fourth year the company has participated in the Wreaths Across America program. End
