Douglas M. Stevens, MD Collects and Donates 100+ Items to Harry Chapin Food Bank

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Dec. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- The recent “Harvest for the Holidays” food drive hosted by Douglas M. Stevens, MD collected more than 100 non-perishable food items for Harry Chapin Food Bank.

The leading practice in Southwest Florida for facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, Douglas M. Stevens, MD, collected items via donations from patients, colleagues and staff. It’s the first year the practice has held a food drive.

The donated food was delivered to the food bank before Thanksgiving and was distributed to needy individuals and families throughout Southwest Florida.

“We are fortunate and have plenty of food, but many in our community do not. We felt compelled to help in some fashion,” commented Dr. Stevens. “We are honored to have given and look forward to future food drives, making an even bigger impact next year.”

The need for food is not just during the holidays, unfortunately. Year round requests include macaroni and cheese mixes, instant mashed potatoes, canned vegetables and canned or dried fruit, as well as cleaning supplies/detergents and paper products.
