OJAI, Calif. - Dec. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Tracey Ryder and Carole Topalian, co-founders of Edible Communities Inc. (ECI), are excited to announce the newest members to join the ECI family – Sarene and Ron Wallace, owners and operators of Edible Ojai & Ventura County magazine (www.edibleojai.com). This news has particular resonance for Edible Communities, as it was the original and sole publication in what has become   anational network of 80 magazines in as many communities across the United States and Canada.

As a quarterly publication focusing on the farmers, chefs, vintners, brewers and food artisans who make up the local food scene, Edible Ojai & Ventura County gives voice to the area’s inspirations, trends, controversies and challenges, while offering inside access to its most influential contributors. The Wallaces, who are twenty-year residents of Ventura County, will debut their premiere issue January 15, 2014.

A food journalist for nearly twenty years, Sarene Wallace, Editor, has written locally for the Ventura County Star, 805 Living magazine and the Santa Barbara News-Press. Her work has appeared in 70 newspapers nationwide, Sunset magazine, and on HGTV and Food Network websites.  An avid cook, Sarene co-leads “Tasting Jerusalem,” a virtual cooking community that explores Middle Eastern cuisine through the lens of the award-winning “Jerusalem: A Cookbook” by Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi (Ten Speed Press, 2012). She is also the director of accounts for Mayerson Marketing & Public Relations.

Ron Wallace, Publisher, has enjoyed a life-long career in sales, marketing and corporate management. From start-ups to global industry leaders, he has built and managed sales organizations nationally and around the world, and has established domestic and international distributor networks. He teaches marketing and sales management classes in the MBA program at California Lutheran University. Ron enjoys the area’s natural beauty, and its seafood, crops, wines and many artisan purveyors.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sarene and Ron to the Edible family,” says Ryder. “Edible Ojai came to be because Carole and I wanted to celebrate the local heroes whose passions, experiences and incredibly important contributions are driving the conversation around food in Ojai and Ventura County. That conversation has grown by decibels over the past twelve years, and we know that Sarene and Ron will continue to do great things with Edible Ojai & Ventura  County.”

Highlights from the premiere issue include:

• an exploration of local coffee, from a behind-the-scenes look at local county roasters to home roasting  and how to make the perfect cup of coffee.

• a conversation with the founders of Somis Pantry, a community food bank.

• an inside look at Karen Evenden’s new cookbook “Ojai's Table: Savoring and Celebrating Ojai’s Mediterranean Terroir.”
