Over 50.000 virtual fish created on gamified environments

Creative technologies specialist YDreams has successfully deployed Aquarium, a social, pet-raising simulator, in Germany, Denmark, Brazil, Portugal and Turkey, enabling users to let their creativity run wild and create over 50.000 pet fish

Aquarium, a refreshing experience marketing tool, first developed for client Multi Mall for shopping center Forum Sintra in Portugal, and the company’s flagship product, is proving extremely popular with users, marketers and managers of commercial venues. Furthermore, Aquarium was distinguished at the Iberoamérica 2012 XV International Festival, one of the most reputed advertising festivals in Latin America, with an El Ojo Gold in theAdverGames category.

The Aquarium experience lets guests create and customize their own virtual pet fish. Touch consoles, located at each end of the giant virtual aquarium, let guests create their new friend from scratch. The variables available enable people to create up to 30.000 distinct fish, so the risk that any two fish are identical is minimal! After determining what their new pet will look like, guests get to name it and release it into the Aquarium.

Creating their new pet fish is only half the fun; to make sure it grows happy and healthy, the fish need to be fed and visited, a task that can only be accomplished by checking into the Aquarium at its respective venue. The more people visit their pet fish, the more it grows, and the further they may customize it by adding new features. In addition, a dedicated website is also available so that guests can regularly check up on their pet fish’s status from home.

To date, YDreams’ Aquarium has been implemented at shopping centers in Germany, Brazil,  Portugal and Turkey, and was thematically adapted for the Intel stand at Lego World in Denmark for two consecutive years (2012 and 2013) and over 50.000 pet fish have been created and released into the Aquariums in all five countries.
