Hosted jointly by the American Turkish Association of North Carolina at Turk Evi (Turkish House) in Cary, and local independent press, Jacar Press, the Buy Local Holiday Fair will last five hours from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Throughout the day it will feature an open mic for readings, songs and stories by participants and shoppers in addition to books and art items for sale. Turkish food will also be available.
Collaboration between the American Turkish Association and Jacar Press has been ongoing with a number of well-attended classes and community events.
"We'll have everything from art, scarves, candles, jewelry, pine straw baskets, food, flowers, books by NC presses and independent authors...even a tissue holder made out of Legos," Richard Krawiec, founder of the community-active Jacar Press. "There will be an all day open mic for anyone - that's right, anyone - who wishes to stop by to sing, read a poem, or tell a story."
