BREW-ed, run by professional beer educator and Certified Cicerone® Cliff Mori, is working with local bars and restaurants to prepare for these knowledgeable “beercentric” consumers.  “Within the next two years, it will be impossible for a restaurant to have service staff that can’t talk to customers about beer,” says Cliff.  “This area is expecting more than a million visitors per year because of beer.  The community needs to be ready to handle that.”  BREW-ed offers a wide variety of services to help existing businesses improve their service of beer as well as help to new businesses hoping to capitalize on the trend.

In addition to working with local bars and restaurants, BREW-ed offers tours of many of Asheville’s local breweries on Friday and Saturday afternoons.  The eco-friendly walking tours combine beer knowledge and Asheville history to provide a unique experience for participants.  Says Cliff, “By the time the tour is done, you should know a lot more about beer and Asheville.” Tour participants will learn beer history, how it’s made and how to critically taste and describe flavors. When asked what sets BREW-ed’s tours apart, Cliff said, “It’s a different experience from other brewery tours.  The focus really is on understanding what goes into making beer and how to enjoy it.  Too often that gets overlooked in favor of just drinking it.”  Private tours are also available to those who want a more personal experience.
