Wildlands Collective Selected To Prestigious Global Accelerator Program, Start-up Chile

Selected participants hail from 28 different nations and comprise the ninth round of Start-Up Chile applicants

SAN FRANCISCO - Dec. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Start-Up Chile has selected Wildlands Collective—a San Francisco-based travel startup that seeks to rationalize the fragmented remote hospitality and tourism sector—along with the company’s founder, Justin Randolph, to participate in the world-renowned startup accelerator’s ninth round. The program will provide Randolph with a $40,000, no-strings-attached grant to further refine and design his travel concept and will offer a world-class network of mentorship, advise, and support.

With 100 startups chosen from an application pool of over 1900, this round represented Start-Up Chile’s most competitive to date and reflects the growing popularity of the program.

While the company's website is currently in development, the company expects to be offering a curated portfolio of remote and activity-based travel destinations to a targeted and engaged membership community beginning in the spring of 2014. Wildlands Collective is founded on the premise that the fragmented nature of remote lodging and remote hospitality-–which often involves unbranded, family-run proprietors-–lacks sophisticated marketing tools to efficiently reach a global audience of modern travelers. What's more, the destination discovery process for many travelers involves an abundance of information that is often poorly organized and communicated, leaving the traveler overwhelmed. By creating a community of lodges, properties, and destinations, and integrating it with an engaged membership group, The Wildlands Collective hopes to solve both problems for exhibitors and travelers alike.

About Start-Up Chile

Start-Up Chile is a program created by the Chilean Government that seeks to attract early stage, high-potential entrepreneurs to bootstrap their startups from Chile and to use the country as a platform to go global with no commitment to stay afterwards. The program offers its participants a global network in order to achieve this.

The objective, besides developing their startups, is to create and foster networks with the local entrepreneurship ecosystem. The end goal is to position Chile as the innovation and entrepreneurship hub of Latin America and it is believed said goal can be achieved by connecting entrepreneurs, linking them together with dynamic and diverse networks.

The program, unique in the world, is an ideal opportunity for bootstrappers to receive funding without ceding equity and while utilizing one of the strongest Latin American economies as their launching/development platform.  Start-Up Chile is a revolutionary initiative that’s paved the way for similar programs like Startup America, Peru, Brazil, Britain, and Greece while having been lauded internationally in publications such as Forbes, The Economist, INC. Magazine, and EXAME, among others.
