Every Child Matters Run/Walk 2013
STUDIO CITY, Calif. - Dec. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- What began in 2011 as a run/walk to raise money for school supplies for disadvantaged children on the Caribbean islands of Jamaica, Trinidad, St. Kitts, Nevis, Barbados and U.S.V.I. has morphed into a movement - both physically and literally - to change for better, the lives of under-served children across the globe!

The Every Child Matters 5K Run/Walk is a five kilometer timed run which is sanctioned by the USA Track and Field - the National governing body for track and field, long-distance running and race walking in the United States.  Set as the primary fundraiser for Children of the Caribbean Foundation, the event is open to the entire public.  The event organizers encourages the participation of families, schools, corporations and any and everyone to walk, run, dance, hop or skip with us.  Proceeds from the 2014 run/walk will go towards the building of a pre-school on the island of St. Vincent (St. Vincent and the Grenadines, W.I.) - the South Rivers Pre-School.  Holding the view that the right school can provide "routine, nourishment and a guiding hand of responsible adults for under-served children," Executive Director of Children of the Caribbean Foundation - Rosie Hodge-Adams, is enthusiastic about this major under-taking of Children of the Caribbean Foundation in 2014.  "It's not so much about the brick and mortar aspect, but more about what the little children are able to gain.  A pre-school offers parents the ability to go out and seek employment by providing a safe place for their 2 1/2 - 5 year olds to be during the day" says Rosie.  "For a homeless child, school can become everything - the provider of meals, on-the-spot nursing care, security and substitute parenting."

Elmo Johnson of Elmo Johnson Enterprises, a California runner and enthusiast who has participated in many marathons nationally and internationally, heads up the team of organizers of the event, which is being directed by Walt Waltson, a well-known race director in the Los Angeles area.  The 2014 race will take place at the CBS Studio Center, 4024 Radford Avenue, Studio City - the home to many well known shows such as The Talk, Baby Daddy, Kirstie, The Exes, CSI-NY, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Bernie Mac Show and many more. "As a runner, I get excited about a course that is challenging and fun.  The CBS Studios allows us to take full advantage of its venue by offering a unique combination of fun and challenge.  Yet it remains suitable for the entire family to enjoy!" shares Mr. Johnson.

The cost of registration is $30 for adults, $25 for children over 9 years of age and $5 for children under 9 years old.  You may register online or the event at: www.caribbeanchild.com or, at: Active.com - search "Every Child Matters" 5K Run/Walk.  ENTER DISCOUNT CODE:  RUN2014 (to receive a $5 discount by December 15, 2013).
