Kimberton Waldorf School Welcomes Author, Activist, and Entrepreneur Judy Wicks

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. - Dec. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Kimberton Waldorf School is delighted to host a special All-Community Dinner with author, activist, and entrepreneur Judy Wicks. Join us on Thursday, December 12 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm for a wonderful night of thoughtful discussion, delicious food, and community fellowship.

Judy Wicks is the founder of Philadelphia’s landmark White Dog Cafe, which she operated for 26 years, developing a national reputation for environmental stewardship, community engagement, and leadership in the local food movement. Judy will be signing copies of her new book, Good Morning, Beautiful Business: the Unexpected Journey of an Activist, Entrepreneur and Local Economy Pioneer. Her memoir explores the way entrepreneurs, as well as consumers, can follow both mind and heart, cultivate lasting relationships with each other and the planet, and build a new compassionate economy that will bring us greater security, as well as happiness.

“We share Judy Wicks’ passion for the local food movement.” said Karen Scott Flores ‘79, Head Chef at Kimberton Waldorf School. “Our main source of fresh fruits and vegetables is our own organic school garden. We also rely on our local CSAs and farms for fresh produce and the biodynamic yogurt, cream, and milk we use are locally produced, as well. We are thrilled to welcome Judy, a leader in the sustainable food movement, to our school.”

Dinner will be provided by Food for Thought, Kimberton Waldorf School’s community-supported lunch program that uses natural, organic, locally and sustainably sourced ingredients. The cost is $10 for adults and $7 for children. All are welcome. The event is being held at the Kimberton Waldorf School Gymnasium, 410 West Seven Stars Road, Phoenixville, PA. Visit www.kimberton.org/foodforthought or call 610.933.3635 ext. 133 to register. Registration is also available at the door.
