2nd Annual ShockBoxTV Holiday Rock Concert & Toy Drive

LOS ANGELES - Dec. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- ShockBoxTV hosted their 2nd Annual Holiday Rock Concert and Toy Drive on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Busby’s East in Hollywood. The event raised thousands of dollars worth of new toys for the LAFD and ABC7’s 21st Annual ‘Spark of Love’ toy drive, which delivers toys to underserved children in the greater Los Angeles area during the Holidays.

The event included live performances by two Los Angeles based rock bands, The Shakers and Better Off Blonde. “Our favorite part of the evening was collecting all the toys for the children," says Shannon Hunt and Lauren Tarantino, together forming the pop/rock duo Better Off Blonde.

"When the LAFD arrived at the event in a firetruck, I was blown away. 'Spark of Love' is important to them, you can tell. I guess I felt like a kid again: awestruck by real firefighters," said Jodie Schell, lead singer of The Shakers.

Chris Lee, lead guitarist for The Shakers, said "My favorite part was getting to wear firefighter gear for a group photo. I don't even have to think about it, firefighters are awesome!"

LAFD Firefighter Michael Marquez, program coordinator for the 'Spark of Love' toy drive, was in attendance and expressed, "The sincere enthusiasm of everybody involved in this year's event was amazing."

Matt Prater, creator and producer of the event, said "Last year's event was fantastic and brought in a few thousand dollars worth of new toys for children. We nearly doubled that amount this year and many underserved children will get an opportunity to feel the joy of opening presents on Christmas day."
