Project Rising Phoenix to Announce Selected Ideas to Fill 3 Downtown Phoenix Vacant Spaces, Dec. 17

Public Presentations to be Made at Accelerator Kickoff Party at FilmBar, 815 N. 2nd St., Phoenix

PHOENIX - Dec. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Project Rising Phoenix will announce the selected ideas to fill three downtown Phoenix vacant spaces at its Accelerator Kickoff Party on Tuesday, December 17, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at FilmBar, 815 N. 2nd Street, Phoenix.

After a month-long Call for Ideas, multiple submissions were received for review by Project Rising’s Investor Stakeholder Group. On December 17, the selected project teams will present their ideas to gain initial public feedback and, starting in January, will refine their ideas through Project Rising’s three-month Accelerator Program. Teams not chosen will receive detailed feedback from the Investor Stakeholder Group about their proposals.

The three downtown Phoenix properties – two adaptive reuse projects and one vacant lot – have strong potential for multiple uses: (1) Luhrs City Center Arcade on Jefferson St. between First Ave. & Central Ave., (2) Adams Street Lot on the southeast corner of Adams St. & Central Ave., and (3) Regency Garage Edge (aka Matador Restaurant space) at 125 E. Adams St.

"We are excited with the submissions we received. Much thought, creativity, and planning went into each. We are hopeful the selected ideas will meet the goals of the three property owners: to activate the spaces and bring additional vibrancy to downtown Phoenix," said Leslie Lindo, Project Rising's executive director.

Suggested ticket donation is $20, which includes food and beverages. RSVP for the event at http://acceleratorkickoff.eventbrite.com/

About Project Rising Phoenix

Project Rising Phoenix is a Phoenix, Arizona based not-for-profit urban infill accelerator that creates a pipeline of viable development projects sourced from and for the benefit of the community. Project Rising pre-selects project sites from a collection of vacant lots and underutilized buildings, and test their best use through pre-development studies and community input. A call for project ideas is then announced for these sites to developers, professional groups, and the public. The selected projects are incubated in an accelerator program, including valuable education and mentorship initiatives, to become bankable projects. Once completed, the project concepts are presented to investors and developers for adoption. For more information, visit http://www.projectrisingphx.org
