Dec. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- While many slept on Thursday morning December 5th, Joey Thurmond also known as NOJOE a past Clown of the Year award winner, star of the new award winning documentary film GreasePaint, and namesake of Nojoe's Circus began a March Across Paulding County GA.  "We concieved the idea to raise awareness for our 2014 Military and First Responders Appreciation Tour", said Joey.  The 2014 Tour will provide free circus performances of Nojoe's Circus to U.S. Military and First Responders across the country.  Beginning near Rockmart GA and heading east along the famed Silver Comet trail the once Sea Board rail line, Joey walked through the wilderness of Paulding Forest a Wildlife Management Area.  Passing through Braswell GA, McPherson GA, Dallas GA, Hiram GA and into Cobb County and Powder Springs GA.  "The first ten miles or so was really peaceful no sounds of traffic or other people.  Just the sounds of nature", said Joey.  While the march may not seem like a very big deal to some Joey made it unique by marching the entire distance in his costume clown shoes.  "We submitted our applications to the Guinness Book of World Records and as far as we can see we have set a "new" world record for the longest distance walked in clown shoes", said Joey.  Marching 17.5 miles on Thursday Joey had to stop approximately 3 miles from the entire distance to have enough time to prepare for a Charity show for Toys for Tots.  After completeing the 17.5 miles he performed raising toys then bright and early on Friday moring he completed the last 3 miles bringing the total to 20.84 miles.  Joey marched the entire distance with pins and insignias of U.S. Military, Police and Fire units and the American Flag.  Dedicating many of the miles walked to Military Veterans, Officers who lost their live in the line of duty and more.  Joey uploaded pictures and dedications via FaceBook for all supporters to see.  "I had a lot of people who sent prayers, music videos, and encouraging words through my posts on FaceBook and that really meant alot to me",  said Joey.  Many sent in sponsorships however, the entire walk even though alerted to all major and local media was uncovered with the exception of the Dallas New Era.  Friday Joey, along with wife Jamie, son Tyler, and friend and fellow performer Hernan Colonia arrived at the Cobb County line to no fanfare, no flags, no cheering spectators, and  no one to greet them at all. "It's not the recognition we were after here.  It's about helping our Nation's Military and the ones who protect us everyday", said Joey at the conclusion of the trek.  The spirits were very high as the foursome laughed and joked with each other taking pictures and video to share with friends.  "I'm so grateful to all those who offered and donated support" said Joey and Jamie.  Joey and his family are the stars of the new award winning documentary movie GreasePaint which chronicles the family's life over the period of a year on tour.  Nojoe's Circus toured 13 states and performed over 700 shows in 2013.  For more information visit www.NojoesClownCircus.com www.GreasePaintFilm.com
