By: Group Greets In today’s hectic and modern world, sometimes we all can’t actually be together to celebrate a special occasion like a birthday or even the upcoming holidays with family, friends or even co-workers. So an atypical startup team of Baby Boomers in San Francisco has created Group Greets™, a new, group-based, digital web application and platform that claims is “almost the next best thing to being there.” Group Greets, short for Group Greetings, is a new kind of memorable, meaningful multimedia We-Card – an e-card created by a group. Group Greets uses a revolutionary new digital media platform and is based on the power of the group dynamic. Instead of the usual one-on-one, sender-to-receiver process, Group Greets puts the recipient at the center as a group decides to create and send a unified greeting using multiple forms of digital media and expression: a video, a photo, an audio, or text. Not only does the recipient experience the digital Group Greet, so does everyone else involved in its creation. As the two co-founders of Group Greets explain, “We’re using digital media and technology to create and encourage giant, virtual group hugs.” Group Greets currently offers two group greeting occasions, Happy Birthday and Happy Holidays, and works by inviting up to nine group participants to contribute and email any type of digital media. For birthdays, the company recommends creating a happy birthday sing-along and for the holidays, a virtual Christmas carol. Additional digital mementos with wishes are encouraged for either occasion and may be experienced individually in the company’s platform. The Bay Area startup was founded by two Baby Boomers, John Graham and Don MacDonald, who were both casualties of corporate downsizings and moved to the Bay Area to take career matters into their own hands. The two started parent company NonLinear Objects which is the brains behind the multidimensional platform and player that powers Group Greets and sister brand, Our Family Lives™. Says Graham, “We’re not your typical startup team of 25 year-olds in Silicon Valley so chuckle anytime we hear the word startup. We see a lot of me-centric apps being developed here which aren’t necessarily moving our society forward in a positive and substantive way. With our career experiences and life perspectives, we’re passionate about using technology for good – to develop we-centric apps and unite people – and make whatever we create accessible to all ages. Groups Greets is the first step to a much bigger and positive vision.” Group Greets costs about the same as a paper greeting card and because it’s digital, it can also be downloaded and literally saved forever. The company plans to introduce more group greeting occasions and reveal more of the platform’s unique features and functionality in the very near future. So if you’re looking for the next best thing to being there, check out the virtual option of Group Greets. It’s “almost like being there.” To learn more about Group Greets, please visit at: http://www.groupgreets.com To view the 2-minute demo for Group Greets, please go to: http://youtu.be/ End
