New Exciting Opportunity To Join Transported Board

Dec. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Applications are being invited to join the Management Group of Transported, the community-based arts programme that has been taking place in Boston Borough and South Holland since May 2013.

As part of the preparation for this next, ambitious phase of the programme, Transported is now inviting applications for new members for the Management Group, which will play a crucial role in driving forward the project’s ambitious plans to make a real difference in the two areas and strategically planning ahead to sustain the programme beyond the initial funding.  Transported are looking for members with a real interest and enthusiasm for the project and a wide variety of skills and experience which do not have to be solely arts based; applications are encouraged from other sectors, eg. health and wellbeing, haulage, heritage etc.  As part of an ongoing aim to work closely with the communities surrounding the programme, Transported would also love to hear from those connected with existing local networks and businesses.  This is one of the biggest and most exciting arts and community orientated projects to ever take place in Boston Borough and South Holland – this is your opportunity to get involved and make a real difference!

Transported is funded as part of Creative People and Places from Arts Council England, an initiative aimed at increasing the number of people engaging with the arts specifically in areas where engagement is lower than the national average; Boston Borough and South Holland currently form one of these areas and Transported was set up to in order to apply for the funding offered.  It launched in May 2013 in Carter’s Park in Holbeach and has since completed a three month initial consultation process in which artists took activities and performances all over the two regions, allowing Transported to ask more than six thousand people who were at those events what arts they would like to see more of as part of the next phase of the programme.  Transported also took over two empty shops in Boston and Holbeach in August 2013 programming arts activities throughout the month, and brought Night of Festivals to Boston in October 2013, working with creator ArtReach.  Phase II has eleven different strands of activity, decided through analysing the public feedback received, and will start to be rolled out from the New Year.
