ALBANY, New Zealand - Dec. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- (Auckland, New Zealand) Leading local supermarket chain, New World, (http://www.newworld.co.nz/), has partnered with travel technology innovator, Tourism Radio NZ (http://www.travelguideapps.co.nz/) to bring helpful information about its stores to tech-savvy travellers.

The partnership sees listings for New World branches across the North and South Islands featured across Tourism Radio’s range of 16 smart mobile audio travel guide apps, as well as in their location-aware, in-car travel guide devices.

Foodstuffs NZ’s GM Group Marketing, Steve Bayliss says overseas travellers often don’t know where to shop when they arrive in New Zealand making the partnership a logical one. “Our New World stores are well known locally as being 100% kiwi owned and operated and offering customers a world of freshness, choice and value. Most overseas visitors enjoy trying local food and discovering grocery items that they can’t find at home. This campaign enables us to assist those on the road, including motorhome travellers, to enjoy the fantastic grocery range our stores offer, regardless of where they are in New Zealand, with true convenience.”

Tourism Radios National Sales Manager Daryl de Lautour says, “We’re able to give New World the perfect platform to target Free Independent Travellers through our various mobile travel guide offerings. Day-to-day grocery shopping forms a large part of any self-drive traveller’s budget and featuring New World in our travel apps and on our bespoke in-car travel guide devices is an ideal fit.”

de Lautour  says that in their iPhone and Android travel apps, each New World branch in the country is accurately shown on a map, making it easy for tourists to find while they’re on the go. He adds that the apps even work offline.

Tourism Radio is a recognised tourism brand in New Zealand thanks to the strong partnerships forged with major car hire and motorhome providers across the country, including Tourism Holdings Limited (http://www.thlonline.com/), which is New Zealand’s premier tourism company.

Tourism Radio CEO Hayden Braddock says Tourism Radio will continue to innovate, “We’ve been at the forefront of location-aware mobile audio travel guides since we launched into the iPhone and Android app markets in 2012. We’re actively looking at other development platforms including Google Glass and Windows Phone, increasing our reach amongst modern-day travellers.”
