LINCOLN, Neb. - Dec. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- On Sunday, January 19, 2014, five chefs from Omaha and Lincoln will be recognized for their outstanding support for local farmers and producers during a friendly competition and fundraiser at the 2014 Producers Choice Chef Award at Metro Community College’s Institute for Culinary Arts in Omaha.

Hosted by Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society, the all-star chef line-up includes Omaha chefs Clayton Chapman from The Grey Plume (http://www.thegreyplume.com/), Paul Kulik from The Boiler Room (http://www.boilerroomomaha.com/), Nick Strawhecker from Dante Pizzeria (http://www.dantepizzeria.com/), Joel Mahr from Lot 2 (http://lot2benson.com/) and Lincoln chef Matt Roush from Bread & Cup (http://breadandcup.com/).

According to Scott Willet, event committee chairman, farmer members from the Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society voted for the top chefs they believe best support and promote local farmers and food communities.

“NSAS wants to showcase the important work these chefs are doing to create awareness of local farmers and food and how it weaves through our local economy,” Willet said.

The evening’s theme, “Celebrating the Fabric of the Local Food Community” depicts a wonderful tapestry of the outcome when local chefs source from local growers, Willet continued.

The event is a fundraiser for the Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society. Ticket price of $125.00 includes a cocktail hour showcasing Nebraska vintner, Glacial Till (http://www.glacialtillvineyard.com/), and brewery Modern Monks (http://www.modernmonks.com/) of Lincoln, followed by a five course meal prepared and served from each of the featured chefs.
