Largest African American Holiday Shopping Market expected to attract thousands to Reliant Center

HOUSTON - Dec. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- The 5th Annual Nzuri Natural Hair, Health & Beauty Show, the nation's largest natural hair and beauty holiday shopping festival, will be held Dec. 7- 8, 2013 at the Reliant Center, 1 Reliant Park, Houston, Texas 77054. Doors open at 10 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.

The two-day festival and expo is the largest African American Holiday Shopping Festival in the country. Coordinators are expecting over 150 exhibitors and over 10,000 attendees to create a very unique holiday shopping experience.

The Nzuri Natural Hair Festival will showcase some of the nation's best natural hair, health and beauty talent and exhibitors. This years theme "Embrace Your Natural Beauty," has created excitement and incredible anticipation for both attendees and exhibitors.

Nzuri - a Swahili word for "beautiful" - has a mission to educate, motivate and empower women transitioning to their natural hair and to educate those that want to improve their health by the use of natural high quality products and practices.

Natural product manufacturers from all over the country will converge on the Reliant Center to provide attendees with a variety of unique natural products designed to assist in their journey towards improved health and beautiful hair.

In its fifth year, the show has grown exponentially as an increasing number of women embrace their natural beauty. This year's festival promises to have a wide array of things to do, see and learn.

The festival will feature two non-stop days of entertainment on the main stage, with "Sunday's Best" Season 5 winner, Joshua Rogers, and Season 4 runner up, Andrea Helms, taking the stage for an unforgettable performance on Dec. 8.

Other highlights include The Nzuri Experience" Pre Awards Mixer for nominees and the Friday Night VIP Party & 100 Carat Diamond Awards Gala. The gala recognizes and honors achievement in 20 categories, including Top Chef, Top Natural Stylist, Best in Fashion and Makeup, Restaurant of the Year. The weekend also will feature A Nzuri exclusive "The Unsung Hero Award" as well as the Legend of Dance Awards, and more.

Event goers are invited to stop by the popular Nzuri Wellness Smoothie Bar (featuring free health & wellness smoothies) and the Obsidian Beauty Lounge, presented by Gold Sponsor Obsidian Beauty Supply, featuring 30-square feet of pure luxury and pampering. The lounge will include hair styling demos by professional stylists, barber cuts, nails, lashes, facials and the entire beauty spa experience. Over 20 consumer and professional workshops and classes also will be available that touch on everything from natural hair styling to hair growth and nutrition for healthy hair to being natural in Corporate America.

This year's show also will focus on fitness, with six dance workshops, including the Texas 2-step, Chicago swing, swing out, salsa, Zumba, and more. Other show highlights include: the Little Miss "Happy" Head Beauty Pageant for girls, ages 4 to 15; "Little Mr. Handsome Man" Variety Show for boys, ages 4 to 13 and a stage performance by Black Poet's Pavillion sponsored by SOS Radio.

The eclectic line up of activities also will feature four fashion segments to include - Miss Fab Over 40 Model Competition, Miss Full Figured Foxy Model Competition presented by Size Sexy Divas and Miss Next Top Natural Beauty Model Competition. Rounding out the segment is the Nzuri-exclusive fashion presentation - Nzuri's Fashion 2 Fro Fashion Show, brought all the way from New York by Jennifer Lloyd, owner/creator of Natural Hollywood Magazine, who is returning to the festival for the second consecutive year.

In addition, Nzuri offers The Nzuri Blogosphere Experience consisting of some of the nation's top bloggers and vloggers, the Largest Dance Stage in USA featuring the Dance Battle Royale Dance Competition, the Top Natural Hair Stylist Stage Production, and another Nzuri feature duo presentation - "Culture is Couture," a modern day stage production capturing styles from many different cultures and eras.

Tickets are $10 for general admission; $25 for an all-inclusive workshop and show pass; children 12 and under are free. Vendor and sponsorship opportunities are still available. Partial proceeds benefit Keep Kids in School and Fish and Bread Ministries. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations and may also be purchased at the door.
