Golden State Warrior Marreese Speights, Helps Save Holiday Dinner to Feed Thousands of People

OAKLAND, Calif. - Dec. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Oakland, CA – December 3, 2013-  NBA's Golden State Warrior’s, Marreese Speights was recently approached by his public relations representative with news regarding the annual City of Oakland’s Holiday Dinner being cancelled due to lack of funding.  Speights was asked if there was any interest of saving it for the community.  Within seconds, the big-hearted power forward responded, “Yes, of course I’ll do it”.

The City of Oakland’s annual event usually takes place right before Thanksgiving, but due to lack of funding has been changed to Monday, December 23^rd.   The event feeds thousands of people in the in the Bay Area, including seniors, low-income families and homeless citizens.  It will be held at the Oakland Convention Center.  Activities include a turkey feast and live entertainment.  Free transportation is also provided.

“I love doing [stuff] like this”, Speights commented.  The Golden State Warrior is enjoying acclimating himself with the Bay Area.  He has many plans to work within the Oakland Area, just as he does in his hometown. “I want people to know I am more than a basketball player, because there is so much more to it than just the game”.

Speights, originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, is in his 6^th season in theNBA.   The 6’10” forward has been adominant force between the lines for the Golden State Warriors, but hopes to have an even bigger presence off the court.  Marreese, better known as “Mo”, is passionate about making an impact in his community.   Only being 26 years of age and living his childhood dream of playing professional basketball, there is not a day Speights is not thankful for the platform he has been blessed with. Marreese understands the importance of serving the community and how imperative it is to show compassion.  He is in the process of introducing his trademark, Team Marreese Speights(TMS) to the world.  TMS hosts various events in Speight’s hometown of St. Pete, which all surround philanthropy and carry out the vision to make business power movements
