In association with Colchester Colne Round Table and St Helena Hospice, the Colchester Half Marathon brings runners of all abilities a fantastic town and country route, once again starting and finishing at the fantastic Weston Homes Community Stadium. The aim is to provide a great race-day experience for both runners and spectators, with excellent pre and post race facilities provided by the Weston Homes Stadium, a fast course, chip timing and same day results.
The course heads downhill into the historical town centre of Colchester on closed roads. Be prepared for a lightning fast opening 2 miles as you charge towards the town centre. A short uphill stretch in to town see runners passing the huge Victorian built water tower (known locally as Jumbo) before heading along the High Street and passed the Town Hall and on to the Colchester Castle (first water station and spectator spot).
Another short blast down hill (East Hill) and passed the historic Siege House, before turning north and heading out of town. Miles 4 – 6 are a mix of flat or slight incline with a further water station/ spectator spot at mile 5 (The Rovers Tye). The race then heads out into the beautiful Essex countryside, passing through Langham (3rd water station at the Shepherd and Dog) before looping back towards Colchester via the village of Boxted. A straight and flat stretch takes runners back to the Stadium (passing the 4th water station on Boxted Straight Rd) where runners will be met by cheering spectators, and a great medal and goody bag.
