Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club and Lido 14 Fleet 2 present the 2014 Super Bowl Charity Regatta

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. - Nov. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Each year on the Sunday prior to the Super Bowl football championship, Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club and Lido 14 Fleet 2 host the Super Bowl Charity Regatta in Marina del Rey, California.

The is typically the largest small boat event in Marina del Rey and provides an early opportunity for small boat sailors to hone their skills in a competitive and fun event.  Competitors range in age from seven year olds in Optimist Dinghies to adults in their seventies sailing a Harbor 20 or Lido 14.

Proceeds from the regatta benefit the Cancer Support Community which provides a variety of support services to cancer victims as well as their family and friends.  The 2014 edition of this event represents the fourth year of this partnership.

Racers compete in up to five competitive races and then assemble at Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club to enjoy live music, warm food and a fun filled fundraising raffle and awards ceremony.  Loyal sponsors Ullman Sails, Annapolis Performance Sailing, Quantum One Design, Sailing Supply of San Diego, Gill North America, WD Schock Corporation, Custom Marine Design, Gresham Boards and West Marine make the fundraising raffle possible.
