METRO MANILA, Philippines - Nov. 29, 2013 - PRLog -- GrainPro, Inc., an innovator in the safe, cost-effective storage of post-harvest grains and seeds, recently raised their standing in the world agricultural storage industry by obtaining an official International Organic Storage (IOS) Certification, thus, guaranteeing its certified products to be compliant to international organic standards.

GrainPro received the certification on November 15, 2013 at its Subic Bay, Philippines office. The certification recognizes the design and manufacture of GrainPro’s Ultra Hermetic™ storage and transport solutions for organic commodities. As such, GrainPro is the first to receive this unique certification.

One of the challenges in the organic produce market is false branding. While most produce being marketed as organic were indeed grown organically, what happens to it after leaving the farm is questionable. In many cases, these commodities are stored and transported using inorganic methods that require the use of pesticides and other chemical fumigants to prevent the development of molds and pests.

This is why GrainPro’s certification comes at a very opportune time. “To be recognized as a company that produces organically acceptable storage and transportation solutions guarantees that GrainPro’s products could be integrated in the organic supply lines. This means that organic produce stored and transported using GrainPro are treated organically,” says Tom De Bruin, President and CEO of GrainPro Philippines.

Since 1992, GrainPro has been developing safe post-harvest storage solutions that are now being used in over 90 countries worldwide. In 2007, the company expanded its horizons with the opening of its research, manufacturing and marketing office in Subic Bay, Philippines. One of the company’s main goals is to develop solutions that have a positive impact on the environment to improve public health.

GrainPro positions itself at the forefront of organic technology also being used for non-organic commodities. Its post-harvest innovations do not require the use of chemicals to stop molds and pests, prevent oxidation processes, and ultimately arrest quality and quantity losses.

GrainPro Global President Phil Villers added, “Achieving organic certification is something that we at GrainPro have always strived for. We are at the cutting-edge of post-harvest technology and as such, we want to develop solutions that cater to both organic and inorganic food crops, and make sure that these solutions are unique, safe and affordable.”
