WAITAKERE, New Zealand - Nov. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- On Friday 8 November 2013 a new Qigong system was officially ‘birthed’ in New Zealand.

The first ever Yuan Gong Training, named after its creator Yuan Tze, took place in Christchurch, New Zealand in November 2013.

For those not yet familiar with this self-health exercise, Qigong (also written as Chi Kung) can be described as a ‘self-training method which uses the mind (Shen), breath (Taio Xi) and body (Xing – through movement and posture) to effect continuous positive changes in Qi, leading to improvement in health and elevation in consciousness’.

Scientifically Qi can be defined as ‘energy + information + mass’: Qi is the smallest quantifiable unit of matter in the universe and the building block of everything and anything in physical form.

A simpler way of explaining Qigong would be to say it teaches one how to look after ones’ own health and wellbeing through a number of self-health exercises. Through working at the most fundamental quantum level of the human body (the level of Qi) the exercises have a beneficial effect simultaneously on body, mind, emotions and spirit. Qigong is designed to be used as a preventative wellness technique, ie, to prevent illness occurring, as well as a way to boost health to above-average levels.

Yuan Gong* was created by Yuan Tze to fill the needs of 21st century man for an easy-to-use, safe and efficient style of Qigong. Whilst most Qigong systems are inherently safe, many can be quite demanding and challenging to practice. Yuan Gong has been designed as simple, quick to learn and easily enjoyable to practice. The benefits of practice have been designed to help people to build a happy, healthy and fulfilling life.

Qigong originated in China and has been passed down from master to student for several thousand years. It is a product of traditional wisdom culture and has been used as an important tool for improving health, clearing illness and developing potential or ‘wisdom’. The term ‘Qigong’ first appeared in the book ‘Jing Ming Zong Jiao Lu’ by Xu Miao in the Eastern Dynasty (316-420 AD) but it was not until the late years of the Qing dynasty (1644-1912 AD) that the term Qigong became better known.

Yuan Gong is based on the understanding and application of various disciplines in traditional Chinese wisdom culture such as Daoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, folk and traditional Chinese medicine, and martial arts. It is also a result of the achievement of science and modern culture, many decades of exploration and practice of many Qigong systems and a profound understanding of the law of life and nature.

Yuan Gong is itself a sub-system of a larger system of philosophy, methodology and teachings developed by Yuan Tze called ‘Ren Xue’ or ‘human life science’. We could say that Human Life Science is the art and science of how to be a human being! Whilst this may seem obvious, as can be demonstrated by the sky-rocketing levels of illness, unhappiness, war and strife in the world, it may be that most humans still have a limited understanding of what it really means to be a truly effective human being in the world. Students are taught how to understand and follow the ‘laws of nature’ which if done properly will automatically lead to health and happiness.

The overriding guiding principle of Ren Xue Human Life Science is ‘Zi Du Du Ren’ – ‘Lift yourself up and lift others up’. Yuan Gong was created as a tool to be used under this guiding principle in order to improve health and elevate life. And thus we return to the definition of Qigong: a ‘self-training method which uses the mind, breath and body, posture and movement to effect continuous positive changes in Qi, leading to improvement in health and elevation in consciousness’.

* ‘Yuan’ means ‘origin’ or ‘beginning’ and is a very important concept in traditional Chinese culture. Yuan Qi refers broadly to the original substance or building block that creates everything in the known universe, including life. The development of the concept of Yuan Qi can be traced back as far as the I Ching by Lao Tzu. In the Dao De Jing it is said ‘from the Dao comes One, from One comes Two, from Two comes Three, from Three comes Ten Thousand Things; Ten Thousand Things carry Yin and hold Yang, with Qi being harmonized’.
