Kirker Holidays launches latest brochures for France & Spain

Dordogne features in Kirker’s French collection for the first time, alongside characterful new properties in both countries

Nov. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Specialist tour operator Kirker Holidays has launched the latest selection of short breaks and tailor-made itineraries to two of its most popular destinations, France & Spain. Each of the dedicated brochures is filled with inspiration for discerning travellers seeking an unforgettable experience in one or more of the sublime city, coastal and countryside options featured, including – and new for 2014 – France’s beautiful Dordogne region.

Kirker’s expert team can create a single or multi-centre holiday that ticks all the boxes, whether it’s a restorative short stay or a longer escape, some much-needed down time or a special celebration. Allow the Kirker Concierge to arrange opera tickets, expert local guides or a table for dinner, and enjoy well- informed, independent exploration using the detailed Kirker Guide Notes provided with most itineraries.

Many of the city breaks featured in the new France and Spain brochures include complimentary added extras, too. Visitors to Paris can enjoy free entrance to over 60 museums, monuments and galleries, a Seine river cruise and carnet of Metro tickets, whilst a ‘Passport to Monaco’ (featuring attractions such as the State Apartments of the Prince’s Palace and Villa Sauber) plus complimentary return helicopter transfers (one-way from 1 April 2014) are included in all trips to the Principality. In Spain, Kirker clients receive tickets to the Prado, Thyssen or Reina Sofia museums in Madrid, to the impressive City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, or a ‘Granada Card’ – offering entrance to city attractions that include the magnificent Alhambra Palace.

New for 2014 in FRANCE…

-         DORDOGNE: Best known for its turreted castles and seemingly-endless verdant vineyards, the area between the valleys of the Dordogne and the Dronne rivers will appeal to first-timers and Francophiles alike. Excellent air, rail and road links make it an easily accessible option from the UK, whilst a choice of five hotels - including the delightful three-star superior Château de la Fleunie, close to Montignac and Lascaux caves (three nights from £498 pp*) and the spectacular four-star deluxe Château de la Treyne near Souillac (three nights from £794 pp*) - will make it very hard to leave again.

-         PARIS: Renowned for its chic short breaks to the French capital, Kirker has further cemented its reputation with the addition of the five-star Grand Hotel du Palais Royal, which opened its doors to great acclaim earlier this year. The hotel is perfectly located just a few minutes’ walk from the Louvre, complimentary access to which is included in the 48-hour Museum Pass that Kirker clients enjoy when visiting the city. Three nights from £998 pp*.

-         BORDEAUX: Originally an 18th century farmhouse, the five-star superior Le Saint James is set in the pretty village of Bouliac, known as the ‘balcony of Bordeaux’ thanks to its hillside position overlooking the city. Enjoy stunning views and exquisite dining in the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant before retiring to one of its 18 strikingly modern rooms. Three nights from £688 pp*.

Also new for Kirker is the three-star Continental hotel, offering comfortable accommodation in the centre of Bordeaux’s cultural and commercial ‘golden triangle’. Three nights from £479 pp*.

-         LOIRE VALLEY: Joining Kirker’s choice of hotels in this pretty and historic part of central France is the four-star superior Domaine de la Tortinière, a family-owned château where a warm welcome and delicious meals prepared from locally-sourced produce are always on the menu. Three nights from £649 pp*.

-         MONTPELLIER: Superb for a special occasion, the five-star deluxe Domaine de Verchant offers luxury and style in abundance, and is a member of Relais & Châteaux. Each of the tastefully- decorated rooms boasts a view across the hotel’s beautifully-manicured park or 17-hectare vineyard, the wines from which can be savoured over modern Mediterranean cuisine at the hotel’s restaurant, and there is an extensive spa offering beauty treatments, a sauna, Jacuzzi and pool. Three nights are from £877 pp*.

New for 2014 in SPAIN…

 -      CADIZ: Rebuilt in 2012 in a striking, modern style, the four-star superior Parador de Cadiz enjoys a prominent position in the historical centre of Cadiz, between La Caleta beach and the Genoves Park. Each of the 124 bedrooms has a balcony and sea view, and there is a summer swimming pool plus spa with indoor hydrotherapy pool in which to relax after days spent exploring Cadiz and the surrounding Andalucian countryside. Three nights from £798 pp*.

-         SALAMANCA: Formerly a 14th century Dominican monastery, the four-star deluxe Hacienda Zorita Wine Hotel & Spa occupies an enviable location on the Tormes river, in the heart of one of Spain’s principal wine regions, Ribera del Duero. A gastronome’s delight, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant and wonderful bodega for wine tasting will satisfy even the most demanding palate whilst the estate’s array of activities – including cycling, walking, quad biking, fishing and swimming – will help keep the calories at bay. Three nights from £598 pp*.

-         VALENCIA: Standing on the slopes of Sierra Cortina with fantastic views over the Costa Blanca, the Thai-themed Barcelo Asia Gardens offers five-star facilities including no less than seven swimming pools, a children’s club, four restaurants and an impressive spa – and all just 30 minutes from Alicante airport. Three nights from £695 pp*.

*Depending on the location chosen, prices are based on two sharing and include flights (London – regional departures available on request), Eurostar or ferry crossings (for France), private transfers or car hire, accommodation with breakfast, Kirker Guide Notes and the services of the Kirker Concierge.
