FALLS CHURCH, Va. - Nov. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- When it comes to health care, the vast majority of us – by following known principals of healthy living and self-directed preventive medicine like not smoking, not drinking, and refraining from indiscriminate sexual behavior – can be among the 80 percent of those who never need to see a doctor in their lifetime.

Instead, we have been made dependent by the health care industry to take unneeded drugs for diseases that are self-limited, and in the name of preventive medicine, drugs of marginal benefit to the individual that come at great cost to society. Similarly, we take tests and procedures including periodic physical exams and colonoscopies, because we have been frightened by the fear of cancer and high cholesterol. Yearly physicals are nothing but a fishing expedition by the SYSTEM for its own benefit, and are not of any great help to society as a whole. The much-touted Obamacare may provide more fish to the fishing expedition, but will not make the nation healthier. Instead, it may weaken America in other ways, by diverting funds from other important needs, and instead force people to undergo unnecessary physicals, and degrading digital rectal exams and Pap smears.
