DETROIT - Nov. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- DETROIT, Nov. 26, 2013 – Ford Motor Company Fund is partnering with the Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) Holiday Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving program to ensure more than 6,000 area homebound seniors will enjoy a Thanksgiving Day meal.  Ford Fund is donating $30,000 to the organization for the sixth consecutive year, and Ford employees will pack freshly prepared meals starting on Nov. 27.

“Ford and its employees are thankful that we’re able to share some of the joy of the season with our neighbors,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “This is part of our year-long effort to assist those in need and create a stronger community.”

Hundreds of Ford Volunteer Corp members  will help assemble the meals starting at 8 a.m. on Nov. 27 at Valley Services at 1980 Bagley in Detroit.

“Thanksgiving is America’s most-cherished meal and we want to make sure our seniors have the opportunity to enjoy this tradition,” said Paul Bridgewater, DAAA president and CEO.  “Ford Motor Company’s generous donation will help us to be able to deliver fresh, hot meals to 6,000 seniors on Thanksgiving Day.  It is not only a donation to DAAA, but a gift to our entire community.”

Ford’s participation in the Holiday Meals on Wheels is part of Ford’s commitment to help feed Michigan’s hungry families throughout the year. During the next several weeks, Ford also is partnering with The Parade Company to raise funds for Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
