The Ukrainian National Museum presents the screening of a film of Irena Saletska Kowal's play “The Lion and the Lioness”, starring the late Bohdan Stupka as Lev Tolstoy and Polina Lazova as Sonia Tolstoy. This film is Kyiv's Ivan Franko National Theatre production. Irena Saletska Kowal's play makes use of Lev and Sonia’s extensive diaries and explores their tempestuous marriage, starting with Tolstoy’s death and ending the night before their wedding. (Film presented in Ukrainian only; no subtitles). Discussion with the playwright Irena Kowal will follow the film presentation. A reception will follow. COST: $15.00 The Ukrainian National Museum is located in the heart of the Ukrainian Village, at 2249 West Superior Street in Chicago.
