The SLX Story Wins Gold in MarCom Awards—Video/Film/Training

Nov. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- The Ken Blanchard Companies® has been named a MarCom Awards Gold Winner for The SLX Story in the Video/Film/Training category. MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals and oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges, and sets standards for excellence.

MarCom Awards recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals. The international competition has grown to perhaps the largest of its kind. Winners show a range in size from individual communicators to media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies. Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. In the 2013 competition there were over 6,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada, and several other countries. Winners were selected from over 200 categories in seven forms of media and communication efforts. About 19 percent of the entries won Platinum, and 22 percent won Gold awards.

As part of the release of The SLII® Experience (http://www.thesliiexperience.com/), a new learning design for Blanchard’s popular leadership development program called Situational Leadership® II (SLII), the SLX Story was created to engage participants in a new way. Produced by Upper Diamond, the film engages and entertains participants in a modern television program style. While learning the essential leadership skills of SLII, the characters in the SLX Story play out relatable work situations that draw viewers into their challenges, helping them to apply the content and illustrating the painful ramifications of not using SLII. The 13 characters who work together in the SLX Company possess different personality profiles, and illustrate different development stages and management challenges. Woven together it provides a rich tapestry of realistic workplace dynamics.

“The SLX Story presents a powerful way for people to experience the content. It draws learners into the characters’ challenges, creating an emotional connection with their situations and the choices they make. It gets people exercising their muscle memory as they learn how to spot opportunities to use the concepts effectively,” shared Pat Zigarmi, coauthor of Situational Leadership® II and cofounder of The Ken Blanchard Companies.
