BALTIMORE - Nov. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Baltimore-based Fascan International announced today that the Turkish Army has made a purchase of four Critical Solutions International (CSI) Husky Mark IV (Tandem) vehicles, of which Fascan’s re-engineered M20AL Lightweight Interrogation Arm is a key component.

The Fascan Interrogation Arm is a vehicle-mounted, Fassi crane arm with a boom, dual thermal/daytime cameras, a combined air and water digging tool and a digging/raking implement for uncovering, investigating and removing suspected Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

This use and function was validated when Fascan’s interrogation arms for military vehicles were recognized by the U.S. Army as one of the “Top Ten Inventions for 2007.” The equipment has been used to identify and remove improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in combat zones around the world for the last twelve years.

This is Turkey’s first acquisition of the Husky Mark IV (Tandem), and represents a critical enhancement in the mine and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detection, interrogation, and clearance capabilities of the Turkish military.  In the last 12 months, the governments of Spain and Australia also deployed Husky route clearance vehicles, highlighting the increasing pursuit of a resolution to the ongoing threat of IEDs.

“Fascan continues to be an innovative partner for us,” says Michael McCormack, CEO of Critical Solutions International.   “The quality and performance of the Lightweight Interrogation Arm significantly enhances the mine-clearing and IED interrogation and clearing capabilities of our Husky family of vehicles and provides militaries around the world with a robust vehicle solution for persistent asymmetric threats.”

In addition to the Fascan M20AL Interrogation Arm, the two-person Husky vehicles are equipped with other mission equipment packages, including a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) net protection system and a 360° situational awareness camera system.

“Fascan has always seen itself as a problem solver,” says Bernie Faloney, Fascan’s president and CEO. “And in theatres of combat around the world, there is no greater problem to ground forces than the presence of IEDs.  We’re happy that CSI selected our interrogation arm to round out its already impressive vehicle.”
