One of the area’s largest regional brokerages is currently investing in its future by ensuring all staff are as qualified as possible to give the best advice to their clients and to widen their knowledge base across the Company.

They have enrolled 10 members of staff on a study programme for the Advanced Apprenticeship In Providing Financial Services qualification.

This qualification is made up of three main parts comprising:

1. CII Certificate of Insurance (Chartered Insurance Institute)

2. NVQ

3. Functional Skills

Although A-One have employed the services of external trainer, David Toomey from Apex Consultants to attend their premises every three weeks over the next year, it’s down to these individuals to also put in extra graft required by carrying out their course work in between these tutorials.

Sarah Eades, head of HR at A-One said: “It’s a great opportunity for our staff to further enhance their extensive knowledge by keeping up with changes in the industry.  Every employee has to log their Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) points for regulatory purposes under the Financial Conduct Authority which states that all employees who give advice have to demonstrate - not just competence in the products they advise on - but also to ensure this knowledge remains up to date.”

“The amount of CPD hours required depends on the type of products each individual member of staff advises upon.” She added.

With the investment expended, A-One is confident that each division continues to be run by experts whose hard work and attention to detail have won an enviable renewal rate for both personal and corporate clients.
