VALENCIA, Calif. - Nov. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Kirkus Reviews, a trusted source of book reviews for over eighty years, has called Rich Samuels’ novel, My Life at the Bottom of the Food Chain, “a valuable addition to topical literature about bullying.”

My Life at the Bottom of the Food Chain is a darkly funny middle grade novel about Alexander, a thirteen-year-old so frightened by the possibility of bullying that he nearly becomes a bully himself. The Kirkus review suggested that the book “will ring true for many middle schoolers,” and praised the author’s “exemplary job of detailing the ways the powerful prey on the weak.” The review is available in its entirety at the Kirkus Reviews website.

Since its release in mid-2013, My Life at the Bottom of the Food Chain has built grassroots support amongst teens, parents, and teachers for its engaging portrayal of the quirky and somewhat obsessive Alexander and his loyal friends—who find their patience tested as his paranoia grows.

Author Rich Samuels, at various times, has been an Emmy award-winning producer, director, and editor. He’s taught filmmaking workshops, been a news director and reporter, and produced numerous documentaries. While he insists that My Life at the Bottom of the Food Chain isn’t autobiographical, Samuels admits a kinship with his main character.

My Life at the Bottom of the Food Chain is available from most online retailers in paperback for $7.50, and in all popular ebook formats for $2.99. Information on the book and the author is available at http://richsamuelsauthor.com
