About this conference
Supported by

Research has shown that autism and Asperger syndrome are frequently accompanied by a host of psychological and psychiatric disorders and other medical conditions. Often labelled as ‘complex’, these conditions are common in autism. If not understood they lead to inappropriate and unhelpful treatment approaches resulting in poor outcomes and stressful lives.

The most recent Research Autism Lorna Wing conference focussed on stress. Responding to feedback from delegates we will continue to explore the stress theme but more specifically how co occurring conditions such as depression and anxiety, sleep, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affect children and adults on the autism spectrum. We shall also discuss approaches to diagnosis and assessment and importantly intervention. The importance of prevention and reduction of stress is also recognised as important and in promoting positive mental and physical health in the child or adult affected by autism and their family.
