Launch of Perfumance, an innovative new perfume recommendation app for the iPhone

BUDAPEST, Hungary - Nov. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Perfumance, an innovative perfume recommendation iPhone app launching on November 24, 2013 helps users answer their most pressing questions concerning finding the right fragrance just in time for the holiday gift shopping season. Perfumance helps in selecting the perfect fragrance based on personal preferences and also provides perfume gift recommendations for friends. As users test and rate new fragrances, they develop a Taste Profile and build a want list, which they can share with their Facebook friends who also use Perfumance.

Beneath the sleek interface design is a powerful, highly accurate recommendation algorithm augmented by the expertise of Viktoria Minya, a Paris-based perfumer. Like a loyal assistant, Perfumance is available on demand, and records users’ ratings over time. The more the app is used, and the more input it receives, the more precise recommendations become. Testers report a keen accuracy in predicting their tastes when sampling suggestions from Perfumance.

When first launching the app, it asks basic questions about the user's style and personality and starts building a taste profile based on the answers. Then the app asks what perfumes the user wears regularly. For each perfume, Perfumance lists traits and characteristics and sorts them into preferred and unpreferred traits, adding an extra level of precision to the algorithms.

Based on these inputs Perfumance generates a Try List, a list of the top five perfumes the user is most likely to enjoy and rate highly. The results are given a percentage-based ranking to show how closely they align with the input preferences. Each time a new fragrance is tested and rated in Perfumance, the new ratings will further refine the recommendations. Like a loyal assistant, Perfumance is available on demand, records ratings over time and recommends more and more relevant perfumes. It becomes highly accurate after just 8-10 ratings. Testers report a keen accuracy in predicting their tastes when sampling the recommendations given by Perfumance.

Perfumance includes latest fragrance releases, and updates its database constantly to deliver relevant results, so likely favorites are short-listed even before ever testing them in person. Users can also submit scents not currently listed.

Picking out the right fragrance can be a daunting task, but it gets even more complicated if one is looking for the Perfect Gift for a friend or a loved one. The social features of the app let users share their wish list and give suggestions on what fragrance to buy others as gifts. In addition to all these great features, Perfumance gives insider info on what fragrances top celebrities wear, and allows browsing through perfume choices of the stars revealing how similar their tastes are to the user's taste.
