Follow on Google News | Boston Turkish Documentary and Short Film Competition Results AnnouncedA total of 40 films, documentaries and shorts, were screened in this year’s competition. In addition to the awards by the competition jury the audience also voted for their favorites for the audience awards. The jury members are Haden Guest, Director of the Harvard Film Archive, Peter Keough, Film Critic, and Carter Long, Film Curator of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The award recipient films are as follows; Best Documentary Award: “The Guest” (Misafir) by Haydar Demirtaş Best Short Film Award: “I II III IV” by Ozan Sihay. Best Documentary Audience Award: “My Child” (Benim Çocuğum) by Can Candan Best Short Film Audience Award: “Uncle Şeref and His Shadow” (Şeref Dayı ve Gölgesi) This year once again special mentions were announced in the competition. Special Mentions in the Documentary Category are; “A Gigantic Jigsaw Puzzle: The Epicurean Inscription of Diogenes of Oinoanda” by Nazım Güveloğlu “Bûka Baranê – The Children Chasing the Rainbow” by Dilek Gökçin “Can’t Live Without You – Barbaros Erköse Documentary” “Faithful” “Fishes of the Bosphorus” (Boğaziçi Balıkları) by Burak Dal, Bahriye Kabadayı Dal; “Pure State of the Soul” (Meğer) by Uğur Egemen İres “Refika” by Özge Deniz Özker “33 Years of Resistance – Mother Berfo” (33 Yıllık Direniş – Berfo Ana) by Veysi Altay Special Mentions in the Short Film Category are; “First Lesson in Love” by Tomer Werechson “Just for One Day” (Sadece Tek Bir Gün) by Tunç Şahin “Mesut the Fish” (Mesut) by Hakan Hücum “Tutu” (Tütü) by Metin Akça The competition submissions for next year will begin on February 1, 2014.
