GiftGen iPhone & iPad App Gets An Upgrade

WINCHESTER, U.K. - Nov. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- GiftGen is a gift finder tool that has been providing present suggestions since 2005 and boasts a database of over 3,700 gift suggestions and counting. The app has full access to GiftGen’s database, and runs on the iPhone or iPad. The price selection goes from FREE to £600+ so there is something for everybody’s budget.

All you have to do is select how much you want to spend, a gender, an age and character of the person you are buying a gift for, and then click ‘Search High St.’ or ‘Search Online’. Within moments you are presented with a list of appropriate gift suggestions, along with links to suggested websites or high street shops to buy them from. The GiftGen guys have done all the hard work of researching gift ideas and which sites and shops out there stock them, saving you hours of stressful brain wracking.

The app is still free and is very small (so it won’t eat up loads of your phone’s memory). Version 1.1 has had the interface re-worked slightly so that it now runs in portrait orientation as well as landscape, and is also ios7 compatible.

Mark Rowe (co-creator) said: “We know it’s not the prettiest app in the world, and that it won’t be winning any design awards any time soon, but what it lacks in sexy looks we hope people agree it more than makes up for in functionality. We’re hoping that its usefulness wins the day for people, and justifies them keeping it installed for anytime they need a gift idea.”

Additional features of the App over the website are that you can save gift suggestion lists locally to your phone, edit them and give them titles. e.g. 'Dave 50th'. You can also email lists to others (perfect for checking with others if buying a joint gift, or if you want to get some input from the recipient’s other half or friends).

Mike Orton (co-creator) adds: “We’re particularly proud of the fact that we continue to offer a spend selection of ‘nothing’. We believe that in the current economic climate, it is important to remind everyone that you don’t have to spend money when getting someone a gift.”

Being a mobile app it’s great for when you are on the way into town on the bus, or sitting in a coffee shop during your Christmas shopping trip when you are really struggling with what to get someone.
