Follow on Google News | Santa Set to Make a Crafty Visit to BlairgowrieBy: Volpa With nearly 40 unique stall holders representing a wide range of Perthshire based businesses including Blairgowrie Farm Shop, The Gift Depot and The Pampered Chef, the Christmas Market was heavily oversubscribed and hotelier, Murray Scott, is delighted at the response. He commented: “We’ve had an amazingly positive response to the first ever market, demonstrating there’s a need for these kind of events at the heart of the town, and a thriving business community to support them. “We’re delighted that a number of community groups have also got behind the event including Humpty Dumpty Playgroup who, luckily, had a direct line to Santa and were able to fit into his very busy diary at this time of year to ask him along to meet the children of Blairgowrie and Rattray.” Santa’s Grotto will be open to boys and girls from 10.30am - 6pm, and there will also be a festive face painter, a charity head shaving event, Christmas story telling and music from the Blairgowrie & Rattray Pipe Band throughout the day. Visitors to the Christmas Market will also get the chance to get ahead with their fitness plans for the New Year with the opportunity to win an annual family membership of the Angus Hotel Leisure Club on the day. Alison Powrie, from the Blairgowrie & East Perthshire Tourist Association commented: “This has been a terrific example of the impact the local community can have when they come together to create such a special event – and what could be more special than a visit from Santa Claus? “We’re delighted to be supporting the event, and are proud to see such a wide selection of local businesses, community groups and charitable organisations coming together to create a great fun day out for all the family, not to mention a chance to buy some unique and special gifts in the run up to the big day.” Local families are encouraged to show their support by greeting Santa when he arrives, led by a team of local Huskies led by Bowland Trails, at The Angus Hotel in Blairgowrie between 10.15am and 10.30am on Sunday 1st December.
