Academy Charter School Awarded Honorable Mention In National Yearbook Competition

Academy Charter School Awarded Honorable Mention in Elementary Yearbook Design, Cover Design, Page Layout, and Honorable Mention in Middle School Page Layout In National Yearbook Competition

PALMER, Alaska - Nov. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Entourage Yearbooks announced their 4th Annual National Yearbook Competition awards, recognizing Academy Charter School from Alaska with the distinctive Honorable Mention in Elementary Yearbook Design, Cover Design, Page Layout, and Honorable Mention in Middle School Page Layout.  The Entourage National Yearbook Competition is a nationally sponsored contest judging school yearbooks across the dimensions of creativity, originality, and journalistic relevance.  Hundreds of schools enter across all fifty states at the Elementary, Middle School, and very competitive High School level.

This achievement recognizes Academy Charter School for putting together a notable yearbook at the Elementary School level.  Their entry was submitted at the end of June 2013 and was officially awarded on October 16th, 2013.  The Academy Charter School yearbook was selected from hundreds of schools who had submitted entries from around the country.

"The Academy Charter School yearbook comes together with help from the staff and teachers," said Pam Collier, Yearbook Team member.  "They provide the Yearbook Team with photos that they take in the classroom and by keeping them informed of upcoming events that may be yearbook-worthy.  Our small, volunteer yearbook team is always appreciative of the support received from the school family and from the parents that offer us their photos for events that we weren't able to attend.  Somehow we always manage to include most events in the yearbook and we are always proud of what the finished yearbook looks like!  This is our first time entering a yearbook contest and we are thrilled with our results!"

The 2012-2013 school yearbook team consisted of Pam Collier, Marilyn Goodman, Amber Eckerd and Melissa Clark.

More about Entourage’s National Yearbook Competition:

This is the 4th annual Entourage National Yearbook Competition in recognition of schools with yearbooks created by students and school volunteers.  To participate, schools had to submit their yearbook content into categories for overall yearbook, page design, photography, and cover design.  This year over 800 schools entered the competition.

Judging of the contest entries is based on a balanced rating across the dimensions of creativity, originality and journalistic relevance. Schools are judged separately at the Elementary, Middle School and High School levels. The judging committee is composed of both expert yearbook journalists at Entourage and invited yearbook experts from across the industry.

"We’re thrilled by the level of achievement seen among this year's competitors and winners.  I want to personally wish all the schools who have received an award a well deserved congratulations.” says Entourage’s President Elias Jo.
