Nov. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- For decades solar industry has been dreaming about viable and cost effective advance battery storage system for residential and commercial clients. Skyline Energy in partnership with their vendors has been able to finally make this a reality.

Currently, many solar homeowners in the U.S. use lead-acid batteries to store self-generated power for use after the sun goes down. lead-acid batteries are the oldest type of rechargeable batteries, and are commonly used in car engines and to power golf carts, etc. They are highly inefficient, bulky and unreliable.

Despite its availability and the long history of lead-acid batteries, residential solar storage adoption in North America has been extremely slow. Research analysts have suggested that when customers calculate the benefits of a solar power storage system, the payoff was negligible. Skyline Energy with their advanced-battery technologies which uses advance chemistry of Lithium Ferrous Phosphate and Lithium Ion Phosphate batteries are having a major impact on  solar installation throughout the US.

Skyline Energy is currently piloting Residential Solar system with these advance battery storage technologies in California and have many reasons to believe that this is the new way for the growth of the Solar industry in the next few decades.

"The company expects to have the first 75 systems installed by the end of 2014, said Rob Srinivas, President/CEO of Skyline Energy in Riverside.

Unlike the Lead Acid batteries the lithium-Ferrous Phosphate and lithium ion Phosphate batteries last longer than their lead-acid counterparts. They are also viewed as more efficient and capable of storing more solar power in a smaller space. They come with standard 10-year warranty and are designed to last longer in most cases. As a result, the U.S. solar industry is increasingly turning to these advance storage batteries for residential storage.

Skyline Energy plans on using the Advance Energy Storage rebates that are available in California to boost their solar PV sales making it a unique offer anywhere at this time.

Earlier this month, the California Public Utilities Commission (http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/puc/) released a proposal that would require California to have 1.3 gigawatts of energy storage by 2020. A portion of those gigawatts is slated for residential storage.
