Holiday Artisanal Boutique Coming to The Hive in Chester, NJ on Friday, November 22, 2013

MENDHAM, N.J. - Nov. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- CHESTER, NJ – Start your holiday shopping “locally” at The Hive in the Chester Springs (ShopRite) Mall in Chester during The Morris County Arts Workshop (http://www.mcartsworkshop.com/)’s (MCAW (http://www.mcartsworkshop.com/)) first Holiday Artisanal Boutique on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. This special festive event will offer a wonderful selection of locally made, handcrafted and designed gifts.  In addition, adult shoppers will be treated to wine and cheese, while children will be entertained with a variety of supervised activities including Legos, holiday arts and crafts, and refreshments.

“We are so excited to be able to offer our community a stress free holiday shopping experience with some beautiful artisanal gifts,” explains MCAW Director Jane Shatz, who founded the non-profit profit group, which brings the arts, music, cultural programs, and a vast array of after school activities to the Chester, Mendham, Long Valley, Mt. Olive and surrounding communities . “We have more than 30 vendors and even some of our students will display their works of art, jewelry and handmade crafts for purchase. Many of the pieces available are one-of-a-kind creations which we think will make truly unique and memorable gifts.”

In keeping the holiday spirit buzzing at The Hive, Shatz further points out there will be a Holiday Centerpiece Workshop and Cookie Swap on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. “Participants will create a beautiful centerpiece for their holiday table or mantel,” explains Shatz. “They are also encouraged to bring their favorite holiday cookies to swap.” For workshop fees and additional information, please visit www.mcartsworkshop.com.

What’s more, the newly formed Chester Baroque Orchestra (CBO), under the direction of Grammy nominated violist Dr. Richard Maximoff, will present its premier performance free on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Hive. The program will include classic works by Corelli, Vivaldi and Handel.

Proceeds from the Holiday Artisanal Boutique and Holiday Workshop will help support the non-profit organization’s programs, many workshops, seminars and programs including Guest Art Displays and Lecture Series, Writing Workshops, Art in Public Spaces Initiative, its Home for the Arts building, and Drop In Art programs and events including the monthly Movie Night and Open Mic Night at the newly opened Hive. About the Morris County Arts Workshop

Founded in 2003 by Jane Shatz, a Juilliard School of Music dance alumna and Chester resident, the Morris County Arts Workshop (MCAW) is a non-profit group created to nurture and promote the love for the arts in children of all ages.  The program is community based and offers a wide variety of classes from musical instrument lessons to voice to painting to yoga to language and martial arts.  Classes are currently held in Chester and Mendham public schools as well as The Hive in the Chester Springs Shopping Center on Route 206 in Chester, NJ.  There are two sessions per year which culminate with a special Showcase performance and art display in the fall and spring.  In addition, MCAW runs five weeks of summer camp for pre-kindergarten to age 15.
