NEW YORK - Nov. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Business Intelligence Associates (http://www.biaprotect.com), Inc. (BIA (http://www.biaprotect.com)), a leader in eDiscovery software (http://www.biaprotect.com/our-product.html) and services (http://www.biaprotect.com/services.html) solutions, today announced that California State University, Los Angeles has chosen to provide  full access to the BIA TotalDiscovery web-application to students at the university to  advance a hands-on learning experience.  By using the online tool, students have the advantage to interact with the same commercial tools that they will use in practice as legal or business professionals.

By using the web-based tool, students can apply fact-patterns to current discovery rules and standards to learn about the litigation and discovery process.  “Allowing the students to gain hands-on experience with TotalDiscovery was a fantastic way to deepen their litigation tool chest and teach them about the preservation and processing aspects of the EDRM.  It undeniably helps them either get a job or do their job better,” said Professor Bowe Kurowski, whose students are participating in the program as part of the curriculum.  “As West Coast Manager of Recruiting for TRU Staffing Partners, I see a nationwide drought of people who really understand the tools intimately, as opposed to just being familiar with them.  Without the generosity of companies like BIA providing free licenses, there would be little opportunity for those to find their way into the field or to learn about the tools critical in managing it.”

“A practical approach to learning sophisticated legal concepts makes those concepts easier to grasp.  BIA provides that practical approach by offering TotalDiscovery for free to students – and they love it!  Professor Kurowski’s CalState LA students, for example, are applying fact-patterns by using TotalDiscovery to better understand the duty to preserve – they interact with examples in a real-world context,” said BIA’s Alon Israely who leads the company’s Strategic Partnerships.

BIA plans to continue to expand these types of programs to more academic institutions and organizations, including providing special educational resources and free licenses and curriculum support.
