Follow on Google News | Bedales students learn from OlympianStudents from Bedales Senior School and Prep School, Dunhurst, took part in a special ‘gifted and talented’ workshop with Beth Storry the Olympic Hockey goalkeeper.
By: Bedales Schools Beth was a member of the England and Great Britain women's field hockey team and was part of the bronze medal winning team at London 2012. During her day at Bedales she put the students at both the Prep and Senior Schools through their paces and was impressed with their skill-set and team play. Beth’s visit was part of the School’s ‘Gifted and Talented’ programme, giving students access to top class training and coaching from inspiring individuals across a variety of fields. This programme goes across the curriculum, featuring visits from Olympians, captains of industry, academics, scientists and philanthropists. Commenting on the workshop, Sonia Cartwright, Head of Bedales Sport, said: “Beth was brilliant, giving the students an insight into what it takes to play international level hockey and what it feels like to realize the dream of playing in the Olympics. It was also a fantastic opportunity to get some top-level mid-season training, which they are already putting into practice in matches against other schools this term.” In a following match the U16 girls’ hockey team beat Robert Mays 4-0 in the semi final of the Hampshire Knockout Cup.
