The Jersey Express Powers Pass The North Shore Tides in Season Opener

NEWARK, N.J. - Nov. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Newark, NJ-November 18, 2013- The hard work and dedication shown by Smush Parker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) during his journey back to the court paid off in full Saturday at Shabazz High School as the 6-foot-5 guard delivered 33 points to lead the Express past North shore Tides 116-102.

The Jersey Express grabbed the lead against the North shore Tides on a two-pointer from Travis Conyers (Jersey City, NJ) in the second period and held on. At the half, The Jersey Express and the North shore Tides were tied up at 47-47, but The Express ran away with the lead after the half.  Scoring 37 points in the fourth quarter, with the North shore Tides racking up 26 fouls, The Express managed to pull away and grab the win. Parker was 12-for-17 from the field, 6-for-9 from the line and made 3 of the 5 threes attempted.

Jason Smith (Paterson, NJ) hit two three-pointers and ended the night with 13 points total. Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ) had a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Charles Smith (Newark, NJ) had 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals. Terry Hill (Newark, NJ) also added on to the scored with 11 point and Corey Chandler (Newark, NJ) with 8 points.

However, the Express fell just short 112-115 in the final seconds on Sundays contest against the North Shore Tides in Lynn, Massachusetts. Charles Smith (Newark, NJ led the team with 31points and 12 rebounds. Jason Smith had added 26 points, 8assits & 4steals.  Travis Conyers also scored 22 points, with 6 rebounds and 6 steals. William Goines (Paterson, NJ) had a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds and Terry Hill also had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.  Asa Braxton finished with 6pts.

Playing without leading scorers Smush Parker and Almin Hodzic, the Express pushed the Tides to the limit and put up a great fight.
