aWhere's Platform Offers Open Access to Weather Data for Mexico and Central America

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. - Nov. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- As climate change threatens the livelihoods of millions of small-scale farmers throughout the developing world, aWhere, Inc., a Software as a Service (SaaS) company, announces an expansion of its Location Intelligence Platform to include free access to localized weather data in Mexico and Central America, two areas which lack access to localized, interpretable weather information.

“As the impacts of climate change become more devastating, the need for easily communicable weather data is vital for those living in the developing world,” says aWhere CEO Dr. John Corbett.  This geographic expansion trails on the heels of the recent addition of satellite derived precipitation data to the Platform. These data are provided exclusively to aWhere from Colorado State University, “These changes represent aWhere’s commitment to provide high quality weather data and location intelligence in support of global development.”

aWhere's interactive, web based Platform allows users to access highly localized weather information, which provides critical insight and enables evidence based decision making for global agricultural development, sustainable intensification, and global health.  Through the Platform, users can customize weather analyses, download data for further analysis, and monitor weather patterns through emailed weather alerts and reports.

Weather data for Mexico and Central America are now included as part of aWhere’s free version of the Platform, which also includes access to weather data for Eastern, Western, and Southern Africa, and South Asia.  Registered Platform users can obtain five years of historical and daily observed weather data for crucial weather variables, including:

- Precipitation
- Minimum and Maximum Temperature
- Minimum and Maximum Relative Humidity
- Solar Radiation
- Maximum and Morning Wind Speed
- Accumulative Growing Degree Days (calculated per user input)
