The finals of the Labour Football League and Cricket Tournament for labourers were held on November 15, 2013 at 7pm at the Nuzul Camp in Jebel Ali. The finals, which were a grand event, witnessed live bands and loads of entertainment activities which lasted till midnight. The fun was not limited to the games, and the audience had a great time, thanks to the live music and entertainment events.

The tournament, which was free of cost, involved a total of 32 teams and was being organized by Securitas UAE – the global knowledge leader in security, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.

“The labour population in the UAE has a strong passion for football and cricket and our initiative is aimed at offering the labourers a free platform to showcase their talent in a true community spirit. This is the second year for this initiative, and we are overwhelmed with the response received from the community – that nearly 62 teams wanted to take part is a testimony to the success of this initiative,” said Gaetan Desclee, Country President of Securitas UAE.

The football league and cricket tournament is integral to Securitas’ strategy which is aimed at improving the lives of labour community in the UAE by organizing leisure activities free of cost and adding some excitement in their lives.

“The tournament started on October 26^th and it brought excitement and fun to our camp. Cricket is especially very popular amongst us and there were almost 2,000 supporters at every game,” said Chairman of the Labour Cricket Board.

He added: “We organize other tournaments in the camp but each team has to pay a small fee to register. Thanks to our sponsor Securitas, everything was totally free for these tournaments. Just put your team together and register for the tournament. This was really great.”
