NIAGARA ON THE LAKE, Ontario - Nov. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- June 18th, 1812, President James Madison and the United States Congress declared war on Great Britain.  Battles raged throughout the continent for over two years before peace was negotiated. December 10, 1813 the Americans burned the town of Niagara on the Lake also known as Upper Canada in Ontario, Canada. http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/lhn-nhs/on/fortgeorge/index.aspx

Niagara On Fire this spectacular event starts on Dec 6 and 7, 2013 in
Downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.

On friday night December 6, 2013,  there will be a preview of the main event scheduled for Saturday evening.  Join us downtown on Queen Street and at Market Square for a special commemoration featuring outdoor events and the multimedia lighting of Queen Street as if it was truly on fire once again!

Saturday night there will be the outdoor premier of a specially made local video “Niagara on Fire” about the burning of Niagara 200 years ago and the consequences of this horrible event. The evening will also feature fireworks and an extravagant sound and light show projected on the front of the Courthouse! Thousands are expected to meet at Market Square in Old Town to mark this important anniversary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vnn8M3LBwZY

Another event not to miss is the 200th Anniversary of the Burning of Newark, on Dec 10, 2013 - at St Mark's Church in Niagara on the Lake.

This important commemoration will take place at St. Mark's Church where torches in the graveyard will honour the memory of all those caught up in the horrific events of December 10th, 1813, and all that they lost when Americans burned the Town of Newark (Niagara-on-the-Lake).

The event begins with a special commemorative service in the church followed by a bonfire. Be a witness to history and join us in remembrance. For those who find history exciting then these two live events are not to be missed, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Thinking of staying over night and maintaining the feeling of 1812 then you need to stay at a Bed and Breakfast or at a Vacation rental.
