Red Sails Inn: Thanksgiving On The Bay!

When Red Sails Inn offers a special people come. That's because with more than 50 successful years in providing quality food, people will always frequent your restaurant. Keeping with tradition, Red Sails Inn again offers a Thanksgiving Special.

SAN DIEGO - Nov. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Thanksgiving in San Diego is always wonderful, but when you can celebrate it on the bay at a popular San Diego seafood restaurant, it’s even better. This year Red Sails Inn is offering their Thanksgiving Special dinner with turkey and all the trimmings.

In addition to an incredible dinner you’re only minutes away from Cabrillo National Monument. This is where Juan Rodriquez Cabrillo landed on the West Coast for the first time in 1542. He led the first European exhibition to explore the West Coast. He sailed from Navidad, Mexico in June, 1542 and  arrived in San Diego Bay and anchored his ship, the San Salvador, on Point Lomas East side near the site of the Cabrillo National Monument.

The Cabrillo National Monument was established in 1913 to commemorate the voyage and discovery. A statue looks out over the bay to recognize Cabrillo’s discovery. There’s a film in the exhibit hall, “In Search of Cabrillo” that highlights Cabrillo’s life and times. It should also be noted that one of the first lighthouses is also located at this monument. The park is filled with a wealth of natural resources and history that everyone enjoys.

Kids in particular love the park and the chance to become a junior ranger. Kids can get a FREE newspaper highlighting the different areas of the park to learn more about 16th century exploration, ships and aircraft, whales, and natural and military history. When they have completed the tour they can return to the visitor’s center and discuss what they’ve learned and receive a Junior Ranger’s Badge. How cool is that?

Another feature of the park on the West side is the eco system with tide pools and marine life. There is a myriad of marine plants and animals that children love to see. Here you will find lacy red and slimy green algae, sluggish sea hares, leggy octopi, darting fish and of course the hermit crabs that thrive in this environment.

All in all visiting Point Loma anytime is a great experience, but combining your visit with a great meal at a popular San Diego seafood restaurant and a trip to Cabrillo National Monument makes it special indeed.
